Reading: In Reading, we have started a new unit on traditional literature. Traditional literature includes fairy tales, folktales, fables and myths that have been passed down from generation to generation. We have read Jack and the Beanstalk as well as Conejito: A folktale From Panama. Students have learned that these stories usually have a moral or a lesson to be learned. Math: In Math, students finished their perimeter and area projects of their names. We did some review problems to get us prepared for our MAP testing this week and played some review games. Writing: In writing, we have started working on our speeches and posters for our Second Grade Wax Museum. Thank you to families for helping the students memorize their speeches this week. We will continue to work on our posters and get fully prepared for the museum next Friday. Students are practicing adding topics and facts to their posters. Science/ Social Studies : This week we have continued our work with our Phoenixville town map. Students learned about goods and services. We talked about the importance of both and how many of the establishments in Phoenixville provide these. Students were also able to choose their "town job" they will be doing in Phoenixville. They had a great understanding of how their job provides goods and/or services to the community. Some students even went above and beyond to create a google slideshow teaching about goods and services to others.
