Reading: In Reading, we read a new nonfiction book titled, Earthquakes, Eruptions, and Other Events That Change Earth. This is a very interesting topic to the students since it is also something we are studying in science. We discussed how readers compare and contrast two books on the same topic. Students practiced the strategy of jotting down important words as they read nonfiction books during literacy centers. Students also practiced finding our week's pattern in texts they read throughout the week. Math: In Math, we started talking about the relationship between addition and subtraction. Students explored this idea through the use of array models and equal group number stories. Students will continue to explore this concept in the week and they will even think about how it relates to division. Writing: In writing, student finalized their published reviews and shared their reviews with classmates during our writing celebration. Social Studies : In social studies students finished exploring their culture/ country of choice through digital resources and collaborated with a partner to compare and contrast aspects of the culture they studied.
